Washington State Council of Fire Fighters Sets the Record Straight on Republican Governor’s Association’s Misleading Ads
Press Release: First a television commercial attempting to mislead Washington voters into thinking firefighters oppose Jay Inslee, now a state-wide mailing attempting the same same thing. It’s time to set the record straight.
“Washington’s Professional Fire Fighters stand firmly behind the candidate for governor we trust to make sure our pension is safe,” said Kelly Fox, President of the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters.
“That candidate is Jay Inslee.”
“We hope the voters will see through the deceptive mailings sent by the Washington, D.C., based Republican Governor’s Association,” said Fox, “As firefighters, we do put our lives on the line every day. That’s why we want a person like Kay Inslee who respects firefighters as our next governor.”
Fox noted that the RGA is funded by the tabacco and pharmaceutical industries, the Koch brothers, Wall Street Banks, and the chemical industry– “the same corporate interests who helped politicians like George W. Bush and Wisonsin Governor Scott Walker begn to dismantle the retirement security our members have sacrificed so much for. Now they’re spending $12 million to make false claims about Jay Inslee, and cynically using the image of firefighters to do it.”
The Seattle Times’ “Truth Needle” labeled the claims of the Republican Governor’s Association to be mostly false.
