Each week Alena Fencl contributes, Pet of the Week, a column about animals ready to become your pet at Burien’s animal shelter, C.A.R.E.S.
Breed: Domestic Short Hair, Black and White, Tuxedo. Age: 12
Buffy and another cat lived long, happy and comfortable lives with their first owner. Unfortunately their owner passed away and to make things worse, they passed without any family members aware that the two cats were left behind in the house. Weeks later, when family arrived to clear out the home of personal belongings, Buffy was discovered, but unfortunately the other cat did not survive.Buffy is a sweet cat with no serious heath issues. She gets along great with other cats, and will definitely love to curl up in your lap.
Buffy is looking for a forever home preferably with an elderly couple or someone with a quiet environment that would be conducive to this lovable cat.
You can visit Buffy during normal business hours at Burien CARES’ shelter just off of Ambaum and SW 150th one block north of Olde Burien.
Tip of the week: Please microchip your pet. Micro chipping your pet is a inexpensive and efficient way to protect your pet. If your pet already has a micro chip, please make sure that all the information is updated. What is a Microchip? A microchip is a tiny chip, about the size of a rice grain that is placed in the upper neck of the pet and contains vital information such as the owners name, address, and phone number. If your pet is lost, and picked up a micro chip scanner can pull up all the information, and your pet can be returned to you. If your pet doesn’t have a chip and gets lost without their tags, there is no way for CARES to return them to you. Then if you don’t follow up and find them at the shelter, there is a chance your pet could be adopted by someone else.
Burien C.A.R.E.S is a not for profit animal shelter located just one block north of Olde Burien. It was founded in 2011 and just recently moved into their new facility that was built and paid for with support from this community.
