Letter to the EditorThe following is a letter submitted to Burien Daily by Joey Martinez, candidate for the Burien City Council, submitted on July 20, 2011.
KC Metro, along with the rest of America, is struggling due to the economic recession. Due to the Primary funding source of Metro (Sales Tax – roughly 60% of operating budget) there is no choice but to either raise taxes (congestion charge) or to cut service (600,000 hours, or 17% of total service). These are facts as stated by KC Metro, and I accept them.
Relying on Sales Tax as a primary source of funding is flawed…
