We just wanted to remind you fireworks are banned in Burien and you can face some pretty big penalties if you get caught with them. So this Independence Day, don’t be an “Amer-I-Can do whatever I want” but be a “Amer-I-Can respect the established laws because that’s how democracy works.” Either way, just a friendly reminder.

NewsStephen Kirk, a Burien resident who pled guilty to eight counts of second degree burglary and one count of attempted second degree burglary in March, was sentenced on Friday to up to 68 months in prison.
Kirk was sentenced by King County Judge Mariane C. Spearman. His record included 37 bookings as well as 89 warrants since 1984. This factored into Judge Spearman’s decision to hand down a higher than average prison sentence.
According to an interview with detectives from the Seattle Police Department, Kirk’s burglaries were always the same.
