Smash and Grab Burglar Sentenced to 5.5 Years in Prison

Stephen Kirk, a Burien resident who pled guilty to eight counts of second degree burglary and one count of attempted second degree burglary in March, was sentenced on Friday to up to 68 months in prison.

Kirk was sentenced by King County Judge Mariane C. Spearman
. His record included 37 bookings as well as 89 warrants since 1984. This factored into Judge Spearman’s decision to hand down a higher than average prison sentence.

According to an interview with detectives from the Seattle Police Department, Kirk’s burglaries were always the same. His method was to throw a rock or brick through the window or glass door of a closed business...
